With some 643.74 kilometers (400 miles) of coastline, it's not surprising that Rio de Janeiro is a top city for seafood lovers. While much of this ocean harvest ends up as sushi in the city's many Japanese restaurants, at Peixaria (which literally means "fishmongers" in English), the fruits of the sea take star billing. Dishes such as paella with black squid and grilled shrimp with lime risotto aim to bring out the dense flavors of seafood without masking them with too much culinary fuss, so serious seafood fans will be in their element here. The ocean inspired decor marks this spot as one more trendy restaurant in the fashionable hotspot of Leblon. Here, however, it is the food, and not the socializing, that takes priority.
