Q Bar , Rio de Janeiro

By opting for a location on Rua Dias Ferreira, famously home to many of Rio's most celebrated gastronomic spots, Q Bar has effectively made the statement that it is as much about the food as it is about the drinks and socializing. Opened in March 2012, the bar immediately attracted hordes of local celebrities and fashionistas keen to check out the new bar on this hippest of blocks. The culinary offering is contemporar, and includes small dishes such as mini burgers with white truffle paste, and larger dishes such as duck confit. Hearty comfort food it is not, but the dishes at this gastrobar make perfect partners to innovative drinks such as the Rock Collins, which sees arugula added to the classic Tom Collins cocktail. -Lucy Bryson
