Caranguejo means "crab" in Portuguese, and there are plenty of crabs and other crustaceans on the menu at this relaxed bar and seafood restaurant in Copacabana. A specialty of the house are the empadas, little pies filled with shrimp, Portuguese olives and subtle seasoning. At Restaurante O Caranguejo the pastry is so light and delicious that clients have been known to order 10 at a time and eat them while standing at the bar. Among other stars of the menu are the lobster claws, served with tartar sauce. Crustaceans might not be the best order if you want to impress a date with your impeccable manners, but they are still fun to eat and oh so tasty.
