Located in the shadow of the majestic Pedra da Gávea, São Conrado is one of the more affluent neighborhoods in Rio's Zona Sul. Come here if you like to hang-glide, or even just to watch the daredevils in action. There is a great beach, too, popular with surfers and sunbathers alike. Contrasting with the wealth is the sight of the Favela da Rocinha, Brazil's largest shantytown, which clings to the unmistakable Morro Dois Irmãos. The area also features the São Conrado Fashion Mall, elegant buildings and a golf club.
