A chic new addition to Santa Teresa's excellent dining scene, Sante benefits from excellent views over Guanabara bay, and is housed in an impressive 1850s building that was once a mansion. The menu is contemporary, with influences from Europe and Asia, as well as Brazil. One example includes aubergine gnocchi served with fresh tomato and basil, which are among the standouts among the entrees. Please note, mains change regularly, but tend to make good use of native fruits, vegetables and seasonings. With DJs each night and live jazz on Thursdays, the ambiance is far from stuffy, making this a natural hangout for Santa Teresa's bohemian residents. - Lucy Bryson
