Japanese pop culture icons such as Godzilla and Speed Racer are emblazoned on everything from the walls to the cutlery at this fun Japanese eatery in Ipanema. The kitsch décor certainly attracts the eye, but shouldn't detract from the food, which is of suitably high quality for this upscale beach neighborhood. Sushi chef Carlos Ohato has put together an impressive menu that includes California Rolls, Temaki and Yakisoba. Among the most popular orders are classics like salmon with leek and cream cheese, or more adventurous rolls such as diced squid with sesame and ginger. With prices starting at around BRL9, this isn't the best place to come for a huge feast unless you have a very healthy travel budget, but it's a fun place to enjoy a tasty and healthy snack. - Lucy Bryson
