Overview
If you are thinking of visiting Quito, come in August. At this time of the year, days are sunny, and there is a fun, cultural atmosphere. In 1992, the city council started a project to make Quito "the cultural capital." For this reason there are a multitude of events organized during this time of the year, gathering the best in art, dance, theater, music, cinema and crafts, amongst other cultural events. Most of these activities are held at open-air venues and admission is free. Don't worry about looking for information on the various events as you will find much information in public squares, cafes, at the airport, in museums and places of accommodation. You can also get advice on the best shows to see.
