Carreras de Caballos (or horse racing) is considered the sport of kings. For Caraqueños (local people of Caracas), it is their morning distraction and their hope on Sundays. Every week in La Rinconada, these famous races take place religiously. They have become part of Venezuela's Sunday routine, even part of Venezuelan culture. Some never miss the television broadcasts, others go directly to La Rinconada. Being such a popular event, the cost of admission is low enough for most. Bets are according to everyone's pockets; many win and many lose!
