Maute Grill, Caracas

The Maute Grill occupies an old city house that is reminiscent of the countryside. Here they call a bullock in its prime for grilling a 'maute.' The meat on offer here is not particularly young, but it is treated with as much care and attention as when it was reared. There is a wide range of options, including steak, rump, loin, loin of pork, sausages, baked or fried yucca, tamale (boiled corn balls wrapped in maize husks), fried maize cakes, cheeses, creams and a wide range of salads and desserts. Out of tradition, beer or soft drinks are the choice of drinks with such a sumptuous menu. There is live music in the evening.
