Opened in 1977, this zoo is still in a period of growth, since only 36 of its 629 hectares have been developed. The main appeal of the park is to be able to walk among certain animals that run loose in the park, though care is needed. Children can enjoy their own section, in which feeding and petting of harmless species is possible. Educational activities are the top priority and guided tours are available. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are dedicated to school groups on field trips. Besides the multiple animal species and the park's activities of research and broadcasting of information, the park provides guests with a pleasant day "in the country", offering facilities for picnics, games and sports. On weekends and holidays, visitors can also take a train tour through the zoo.
