Built in the 15th Century, the Burg is a magnificent royal building constructed upon the wish of Emperor Frederick III. The Burg houses several Austrian and Styrian administrative departments that are inaccessible to the general public. However, the main attraction inside the Burg is the splendid Gothic Hall and the Double Spiral Staircase that boasts of an architectural excellence. A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, these spiral stairs run in opposite directions and are united again at a few steps at regular intervals. Locals usually address the Double Spiral Staircase as the "Stairs of Reconciliation" given their movement in opposite directions and conjoining at the end. The Burg is indeed a treat to the eye.
