Overview
It is very easy to find your bearings in Innsbruck. The Nordkette mountain range is located to the north of the city, and the Serles to the south. Consequently, the inhabitants of Innsbruck are very attached to their mountains, and it should come as no surprise that they have dedicated a whole museum to things Alpine. The Alpine museum traces the beginnings of mountain climbing and Alpine tourism in old graphics, prints, pictures and reliefs. Moreover, there are always new and interesting exhibitions on topical subjects (nature conservation, the impact of tourism on mountain valleys, new alpine sports and their dangers, etc).
