Altstadt Schmankerl, Innsbruck

Altstadt Schmankerl is an unfussy, friendly and upbeat café-restaurant in the midst of the Old Town. The largely straightforward dishes served here (Lasagne al Forno, Cordon Bleu dishes and the like) are some of the most reasonably priced you'll find in the Old Town. A small bar in the front of the entrance is perfect for a snack or a swift beer; further back there's a room with plenty of small tables, which can be put together for larger groups to accommodate up to two dozen guests. Should the sun be shining, tables are set out outside on the rather picturesque 'Vier-Viecher-Eck' (four-beasts' corner) - a square formed by the traditional guesthouses Hirschen, Adler, Löwe und Rössl; the names of which all translate into those of animals.
