Overview
The university's botanical gardens, dating from 1911, lie in the district of Hötting and successfully fuse the pleasures of relaxation and learning. A plethora of alpine flora and fauna are nurtured here: edelweiss, gentian, alpine roses, arnica and some endangered alpine flowers, many of which are protected by conservation laws. The attractions here do extend beyond the alpine theme, with more than 5,000 different species of plants from all over the world. Botanischer Garten's spectacular tropical greenhouses have different open hours from the garden itself, please check the website for the same.
