Gasthaus Lewisch, Innsbruck

Gasthaus Lewisch is located at the border of Saggen, a rather posh residential area in the city with many a beautiful villa. The Lewisch itself contrasts quite sharply with the location; with an abundance of wooden tables and benches, inside the atmosphere is rather rustic, as is the cooking. This image is further reinforced by the many hunting trophies hanging on the walls. The portions are larger than average, the prices far below average. They serve Central European dishes - Zürcher Geschnetzeltes, Wienerschnitzel, goulash, but also typically Tyrolean meals such as Graukas. Lewisch is a clear favourite among locals of all ages who appreciate unfussy, traditional cuisine as an antidote to international imports.
