Sweet Basil, Innsbruck

Opened in 1996, Sweet Basil has carved itself a niche in the market by means of its fine food and tasteful decor. The walls of the historic vaults have been left untouched, giving the place a spartan look, which is somewhat softened by the candlelight. Basil, the herb that lends the restaurant its name, features heavily in the modern international dishes. The menu includes bouillabaisse with saffron, vegetables and garlic bread, linguini al pesto or chicken teriyaki with sweet and sour peach chutney. Because of its location in the heart of the Old Town, Sweet Basil is a favorite with tourists but also attracts a trendy set of locals.
