Vent is a hamlet that is both very small and high-lying. It has only about 150 inhabitants and is situated at 1900 meters above sea level. In this region, there is the famous Similaun glacier, where the 5000 year-old mummy of the even more famous "Ötzi", the Stone Age man, was found in ice. Vent is located at the foot of the Wildspitze, Tyrol's highest mountain (3774 meters high). This area, with many alpine huts, is great for ski hiking trips; as there are many competent guides offering their services. There are four ski lifts in Vent and about 15km of well-groomed ski runs (high up to 2700 meters!). There is also a five-kilometer toboggan run and about ten kilometers of winter hiking paths. Given that, Vent has merely 150 inhabitants, 35 hotels (up to four stars) and pensions are a remarkable number, showing that many people highly appreciate, the atmosphere and facilities of the charming villages and the incredible landscape surrounding it.
