Overview
From nearly everywhere in Salzburg you can see the city's major landmark, its castle. The first building was erected in 1077 during a conflict between the Pope and the Emperor. It's one of the best preserved castles of its size in Central Europe. Inside the building you'll find two museums; the Puppet Museum and the other being the Fortress Museum. Although there is an inclined elevator, it is recommended to take the 20-minute walk up to the castle. The wonderful views of Salzburg are worth the trek and extra time spent. Adult admission is 10.50 EU.
