This large park, nestled between some of the most impressive buildings in Vienna (including Burgtheater, Parliament, City Hall and the University), is one of the most popular among locals and visitors. The green space here offers much needed rest for office workers and weary sightseers all year round. Rathauspark was originally built and designed by city gardener, Dr. Rudolf Seibeck, to give the Viennese people a beautiful pathway to the austere buildings surrounding the area. Today the park is used for a number of functions throughout the year including live concerts, markets, ice skating and an outdoor cinema.
