Overview
In 1155, monks from an Irish-Scottish monastery in Germany arrived in Vienna and founded the Schottenstift. The monastery features a fine arts museum that houses many Gothic pieces. In the 18th century, Johann Fux, a Baroque musician, was the organist. Today, music still plays a large role in the monastery. Visitors can enjoy organ recitals and other musical events.
