Café de Paris, Prague

A discreet and elegant space in a famous hotel built in 1904, the Café de Paris is one of three surviving art nouveau coffee houses, the others being Obecni Dum and the Hotel Evropa. This is the smallest of the three but also generally the least crowded, thanks to its location on a side street across from the Obecni Dum (Municipal House). The deep tones of old wood and polished brass add an almost rustic feel to the art nouveau ambience here. Other public spaces in the hotel are also done up in variations on the art nouveau theme, making it a treasure trove for lovers of decorative arts. The menu is limited to coffees, beer and wine and a few desserts.
