Cafe Imperial, Prague

Located within the Art Deco Imperial Hotel, service is not the reason to come to this beautiful Art Nouveau cafe. You may well have a good twenty minutes to study the stunning tile mosaics adorning the walls after wiping off your own table. However, the place is always packed because the coffees are good, the food reasonably priced and the atmosphere lively. Traditional Czech and continental cuisine are on the menu for lunch and dinner, and includes generous salads and some "chef specials." Live jazz and swing are offered 4 nights a week, lending the cafe an air of authenticity. Be sure to check your bill before paying, as the waiters have a reputation for taking advantage of the fact you've had one too many!
