Municipal House (Obecní Dum), Prague

Home of the Prague Symphony, the concert hall at Obecni dum (Municipal House) is known to music lovers everywhere as the main venue of the Prague Spring International Music Festival, a fixture on the European festival scene since 1946. The building itself is a wedding-cake triumph of art nouveau with decorations by Alfons Mucha and other highly-skilled decorative artists. If you're not in town for the Prague Spring Festival (which runs between May and June), you could at least take in a concert by the house band - the Prague Symphony - which plays a strong second fiddle to the Czech Philharmonic in the city's orchestra pits.
