Karhusaari villa is an important art centre. Its scenery helps to inspire artists with its natural beauty, while still being only a couple of minutes away from Helsinki. The greyish-brown neo-Renaissance villa was completed built by Nicholas Sinebrychoff in the 1890s, and is lent a unique charm by its beautiful exteriors, dark sidings, old-fashioned outdoor lights, plants and decorative stone rails. The moody and beautiful interior accentuates the atmosphere of the place. The villa is a popular venue for celebrations, meetings and events held by the Espoo Writers' Society. Artistsespecially writersare allowed to stay in the house are free and use all of the villa's facilities, so they can concentrate fully on their work in a beautiful peaceful atmosphere. Karhusaari is not a big area, so its forest and shoreline paths can be taken in quite quickly. You can also stroll to the some of the surrounding areas or catch a bus to Tapiola or Helsinki. On the oppo! site side of the highway loom the stunning Neste and Nokia HQs.
