Boxing is among the most dramatic of sports, well suited to large-audience entertainment in real life and fiction, for example films. It is therefore only natural that the sport should also be represented in a museum. In spite of the well-known traditions of the sport, the Finnish Boxing Museum does not aim at magnificent spectacles. The museum, located in the very center of Tampere, presents its theme in an informative manner, without too much pomp. The focus is not entirely on the history of Finnish boxing; some international material is displayed as well. The collection includes gloves, other boxing equipment and photographs. There is a voluntary admission fee. Open only by prior arrangement.
