This quarter, built around the eponymous Gothic basilica, is the most lively and colorful in town. A market takes place every Monday and Saturday morning where many shops offer products from Northern Africa. In the past, flat bottomed barges (typical boats) carrying cargoes of wood cast anchor at the foot of the quarter. The wood was unloaded and went to feed the workshops of carpenters on Rue de la Carpenteyre and coopers on Rue de la Fusterie.
