Overview
Théodore Rousseau moved to Barbizon Village in the late 1840's in 'artistic exile' from Paris. He completed the majority of his most famous works here, including his masterpiece 'The Edge of the Forest' now on display in the Louvre. His former atelier or workshop has been annexed by the departmental museum, and features temporary exhibits in homage to the great painter.
