If you are a movie buff then you would remember that grand old opera building from the 1960s French movie La Malédiction de Belphégor (The Curse of Belphegor). The movie was shot here in Toulon on the premises of Opera Toulon. Built in 1862, Opera Toulon is today a national historic monument and continues to enrich the cultural life of Toulon. It is the center of city's lyrical opera movement and is also the home of Opera Toulon Provence Mediterranée, a lyrical opera company. The Opera is spread across five levels and can accommodate 1,797 people.
