Overview
In the center of Menton, on the quai Napoléon III, the Jean Cocteau museum gives visitors the opportunity to admire large frescoes, tapestries and many ceramics, all created by this multi-talented artist (poet, film maker, painter, etc.) who died in 1963 and who felt particularly attached to this region. There are delightful sketches of characters drawn in profile who seem to change into stars. Besides these surprising drawings, visitors can listen to audio tapes of Jean Cocteau's voice. This small museum will enable those who already admire Jean Cocteau and those who are just discovering him to enter into the mind and spirit of this multifaceted artist.
