- Venue Description:
Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncuşi did most of his work in Paris. He is known for his contemporary sculptures, for which he used basic raw materials to celebrate simple geometric shapes. Some of the artist's most famous works are his Bird in Space and Sleeping Muse series. Oftentimes, Brancusi would sculpt the same thing over and over, trying to reduce the object to its simplest and most sophisticated form. Before his death in 1957, the artist donated many of his works to the French state. He gave one condition: that his workshop be reconstructed to match how it was the day he died. Atelier Brancusi, French for Brancusi s Workshop, now rests next to the Centre Pompidou.
