Café Panis, Paris

It's not easy to find a reasonably priced place to grab a bite near Paris' more popular tourist sites, like Notre Dame. For some reason, Café Panis has remained an exception to this rule, offering classic French brasserie dishes at reasonable prices just across the quai from the famous Notre Dame cathedral. The croque monsieurs are offered in a variety of options, like classic croque monsieurs and madames or open-faced Provencal or other cheesy sandwiches on this tasty, slightly sourdough Poilane bread. Also available are vegetarian choices like meal salads, as well as other brasserie classics like steak and chicken, served with crispy fries. The patio allows you to look over the cathedral, either directly before or right after your visit, as you enjoy your Parisian lunch in the sunshine. - Emily Monaco
