La Pagode, Paris

La Pagode was built in 1896 by the maverick owner of Le Bon Marche supermarket, Monsieur Morin for his lovely wife. However after their divorce, it functioned as a movie house in a quiet little Parisian street. Through the years, this gem of a cinema screened New Wave, silent films, as well independent movies in their original language. A series of thorough renovations and changes in management have now made this theater more modern and snappy while still preserving its old-world Japanese charm. Come early before the shows start for a glimpse at the oriental garden, Japanese paintings and tapestries.
