Built in 1676 as a hotel, this space has witnessed many great moments. Two centuries down the line, it became home to famous French writer Baudelaire, while he was writing Les Fleurs du Mal, and later Cézanne as well. The brainchild of Michel Bouttier and Sissia Buggy, Theater Espace Marais is now not only a cultural hotspot, but also the venue for various theater workshops. This age old structure has been renovated to suit modern tastes and can accommodate up to 300 people. Opera, dance, recitals, stand-up comedies and much more can be viewed here. Also, just across the street from the theater is the apartment where Jim Morrison passed away. Check the website to find out what's coming up.
