When plans for this theater were first brought to fruition, the founders had hopes that, though it was a Jewish theater, it would be able to attract a wide range of people and cultures. Since its completion in 2001, it has achieved those expectations, and become an important landmark in the cultural world of Berlin. The concerts, plays, and performances feature the work of prominent Jewish figures such as Felix Mendelssohn and Heinrich Heine, as well as contemporary artists.
