Overview
The Hackesche Höfe, located in Berlin’s Jewish Quarter, has long been a center for food and entertainment for since its construction in 1906. Before WWII this area was known for its Jewish theaters and cultural institutions and later became a great place for squats and underground bars and restaurants. While the face of this cultural center is changing and becoming a good deal more developed by corporate enterprises, there are still some really enjoyable things to do here. Now the Höfe contain over 40 businesses, including restaurants, a bustling theater, and stores for high end trendy clothes. There is a lot to see and explore here, so be sure to check it all out.
