Südwind, Berlin

When Südwind opened in Schöneberg fifteen years ago, people used to come from far and away just to buy a few slices of the delicious Parma ham. Times have changed and Berlin now has plenty of Italian delicatessens, but the quality and the choice here still can't be topped. The specialities of the house are wines from Tuscany and Piemont, extra virgin olive oils, mature vinegars and aromatic spirits. All liquids (with the exception of wine) are kept in huge glass vats. So bring you're own bottle or buy one of the artistic hand-made bottles boasting such wonderful-sounding names as "Chagall", "Tulipano" or "Marusca".
