- Type: Festivals & Fairs
- Venue Description:
Muskogee has a wonderful heritage going back several centuries when Native Americans freely roamed through the forests, parks and streams, taking care of their women and children, and observing unique rituals. Then came the European settlers who capitalized on the fur trade, and soon after the city of Muskogee was born. Visitors now flock here for the unique adventure & sports options, vivid natural landscapes and mostly the ancient Indian culture which still permeates through despite modernization. This city grabbed national headlines in 2008 when the townsfolk overwhelmingly voted for the dashing 19 year old John Tyler Hammons as their mayor. Make sure to spend a day at the Honor Heights Park; you won't be disappointed.
