St Gaudy Cafe, Berlin

This cafe in Prenzlauerberg is a favorite in the local expat scene, focusing on providing entertainment, networking and cultural events for the largely English-speaking clientele. Tuesday nights offer arthouse and cult movies with original English language audio or subtitles, and there is an alternating array of events on other nights, from speed-flatmating to language exchange to English language literary events and music. There isn't a great range of food on offer, but there are plenty of drinks and desserts, and the service is a strength. The decor is uninspired by Berlin's lofty standards, but wide range of interesting events more than makes up for that. -Justin Davies
