Café Riese, Cologne

Except in summer when they put out chairs, it's easy to miss Café Riese when you go shopping along the Schildergasse, but there's plenty of interest inside. If you go past the bakery and the praline counter on the other side, you'll get to two huge rooms, where mostly older people are having coffee and cakes or other smaller confectionery. It's often so full that it's difficult to find a place, though. It's even busy on Sundays, when there are almost as many people as when the shops are open. Regardless of whether you want to sit down inside, the praline counter is definitely worth a look.
