This Neo-Romanesque church was built between 1890-95 but was nearly destroyed during a wartime air-raid. The main, dome shaped building we see today was erected in 1955. The enormous figure of Christ, sculpted by Bert Gerresheim in 1982, is particularly eye-catching. It is dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi and a concentration camp number is engraved on the left arm of the sculpture.
