Gargantua, Frankfurt

Gargantua is one of the most exclusive restaurants in Frankfurt am Main, but the casual visitor to its charming Westend villa would hardly know it. The restaurant bursts with the lively conversations of writers, artists and intellectuals, and glows in soft light and warm pastels. Chef Klaus Trebes is one of Germany's most famous, and is dedicated to the reinvention of traditional German cuisine. Gargantua's menu is highly experimental, fusing regional German foods and lending Mediterranean accents. Top-label German and Austrian wines are also featured. The breezy terrace is spectacular in the summer.
