Overview

The Christianskirche was named after the Duke of Holstein, Christian VI of Denmark. It is located on the Marktplatz in the lovely Ottensen district near Altona and was built between 1735-1738. The beautiful Elbchaussee along the river Elbe starts from here. Inside the church you can admire a 13th century font which lies upon a more modern plinth. The church has a graveyard where the famous poet Friedrich Gottlieb Kloppstock is buried. You can visit his and his two wives' graves.
