Missing the old fish ‘n’ chips? Well, don’t despair; fish restaurant Daniel Wischer serves this much-loved fast food from a special stand in front of their Spitalerstrasse restaurant. It even comes wrapped in a replica of the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper! First founded in 1924 by Daniel C. H. Wischer, there are now two restaurants of the name in Hamburg, on Spitalerstrasse and on Steinstrasse. Both are right in the city centre, within walking distance of the train station. They serve, among other dishes, garlic scampi, grilled coalfish, baked redfish and herring with apples or Hausfrauen sauce. Also popular are the fish, sandwiches, fish soup and Fischfrikadellen or fishballs.
- Open Hours: Monday to Saturday from 11:00 AM to 08:00 PM
