Café Journal, Heidelberg

Located right in the core of the old city, Café Journal serves a mixed crowd from early until late, and has been a popular spot for years. (It can get quite busy, so don't dawdle over grabbing an available seat.) There's space for a few tables outdoors in summer, but many prefer to retreat from the heat deep inside the long and narrow cafe. The interior is stylish, with large arched windows facing the street, and the menu has much more than just drinks. There are a number of tasty salads, some light pasta dishes, and even some regional German specialties that offer something a little heartier. Of special note, there is a good of international breakfasts and over 40 international newspapers and magazines available.
