Overview
Named after the Duke Karl Friedrich von Baden, Karlsplatz is ideally located at the foot of the Heidelberg Castle. Impossible to miss while in the city, this square is reminiscent of Germany's glorious past. The much photographed fountain in the center is a living memorial to the 13th century born cartographer and cosmographer, Sebastian Munster. Students from neighbouring universities are not an uncommon sight here, along with street musicians and artists who delight visitors with their antics.
