Café Steinhusen, Lubeck

Located unobtrusively at the far end of the Burgfeld area, not far from the medieval Burgtor town gate, Café Steinhusen is a hidden gem for those who appreciate the sweet things in life. As a representative of the slowly disappearing species of the traditional German café, a mixture between coffeehouse and confectionery, they offer a wide selection of excellent homemade cakes and torten (tortes) as well as coffee in numerous variations. The charmingly old-fashioned interior is quirky in a most pleasant way, and lets patrons forget that they are still in the 21st Century.
