Overview

Heinrich and Thomas Mann made Lubeck a popular literary spot. Thomas Mann's novel "Buddenbrooks" and Heinrich Mann's "Professor Unrat" are set in Lubeck. A guided literary tour on the life and work of the famous brothers starts at Buddenbrookhaus where the merchant, consul, and senator Johann Siegmund Mann junior used to live with his family. This is where the Christmas celebration took place, which Thomas Mann describes in his Nobel prize winning novel. Passing the birthplaces of the brothers, which were destroyed in the war, the tour takes you to the City Theater built in the art-nouveau style. The museum church St.Katharine's, the Katharineum, and St.Mary's are also interesting stops on the tour.
