Though not as well-known as the Oktoberfest, the Frühlingsfest (Spring Festival) is smaller and just as much fun, when the Munich fairground showmen and market vendors organize a little funfair on the Theresienwiese. In fact, the Frühlingsfest is a bit like the Octoberfest for insiders - the beer tents and fun-fair rides are still there, but the tourists are gone. Great news for all those who like the beer-swilling, oompah band kind of atmosphere but find the crowds at the Oktoberfest too much, or for those needing something to stops the boredom before the start of the Oktoberfest: The Spring Festival of the Munich fairground showmen.
