Overview

Museum of Greek Folk Instruments is a one of its kind museum that features several popular Greek instruments from the 18th Century. The museum is the brainchild of musicologist Phoebus Anogeianakis whose 40-year old research has culminated into a fascinating collection. There are 1200 instruments like the Daoulia, Defia, Gaides, Koudounia to name a few. There are also photographs of musicians along with recordings that will enable you to get up and close with these instruments. There are tambourines, pottery drums and clarinets as well that are beautifully lined up. You can even buy CDs, books and musical instruments from the shop which is on the premises. Educate yourself at their library that stocks a vast collection of books, documents and research data. Events running here throughout the year include lectures, seminars, music festivals, shows and so on. So come here and hit the right note!

The overview is correct - fascinating. It was not crowded, and cool on a hot day. Near antiquities and restaurants, good walking area.
