Kisharang Eatery, Budapest

This tiny restaurant on Oktober 6 utca, is one of the city's better etkezde - small family run bistros - which specialize in lunchtime dishes. Kisharang has tiny premises with tables and chairs pushed tightly together. Get there early for lunch otherwise you will find that all the spaces are taken by regulars enjoying the cheap and unpretentious home-style cooking. Kisharang does good soups and fozelek (typical Hungarian mixed vegetable dish). Dishes are changed daily and chalked up on a blackboard outside. Hungarian favorites include stuffed cabbage and a dish made from layers of potato and meat called rakott. Lunches are served swiftly for those in a hurry and you can order a half-sized portion if you are not too hungry.
